This month's memory verse

Ephesians 4:11-12

Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ.

Minute to Win It!

Key Verse | Acts 20:10

But Paul went down and bent over him, and taking him in his arms, said, “Do not be alarmed, for his life is in him.”

Acts 20:10-12

10Paul went down, bent over him, and took him into his arms. “Don’t worry,” he said, “he’s alive!” 11Then they all went back upstairs, shared in the Lord’s Supper,* and ate together. Paul continued talking to them until dawn, and then he left. 12Meanwhile, the young man was taken home alive and well, and everyone was greatly relieved.

Minute to Win It Challenges

Today, have some fun playing some fast-pased, exciting games to have fun and bring the family together!

1. Cup Stack Sprint

  • Materials: 6 plastic cups per player/team
  • How to play: Stack the 6 cups into a pyramid, then unstack them flat again — all within 60 seconds.
  • Win condition: First to complete a full stack-and-unstack cycle, or most cycles completed in 60 seconds.
  • Family night tip: Great head-to-head at a table; works for any age since it’s just fine motor speed, no strength needed.

2. Cookie Face

  • Materials: 1 cookie (or cracker) per player
  • How to play: Place the cookie flat on your forehead. Using only your face muscles (no hands!), work it down to your mouth and eat it — in 60 seconds.
  • Win condition: First to eat the cookie, hands still down the whole time.
  • Family night tip: This one gets loud and silly fast — good energy-reset game if the room’s getting restless. Have a backup cookie for the inevitable floor-drop.

3. Straw Sort

  • Materials: A straw per player, a small bowl of mini marshmallows (or pom-poms) mixed together — 2 colors — and 2 small cups
  • How to play: Using suction through the straw only, move marshmallows one at a time from the mixed bowl into the correct colored cup, sorting as fast as you can.
  • Win condition: Most correctly sorted in 60 seconds, or first to sort a set number (e.g., 10).
  • Family night tip: Good for a quieter table activity; easy to run several players at once if you’ve got enough straws and bowls.

Pray

  • Go around the room after the game and have each person share one way their family can pray for them.
  • Each person takes a turn praying for another person in the family.
  • Pray for their prayer request and for them to grow closer to Jesus.
