Central Truth
I am a daughter of the King! Just as you, too, are sons and daughters of the Mighty King if you believe on His Son. I am chosen, I am cherished, and I am loved. He said so. I am worth it. Yea, God!
For both He who sanctifies and those who are sanctified are all from one Father; for which reason He is not ashamed to call them brethren. (Hebrews 2:11)
1 Therefore we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, lest we drift away from it. 2 For since the message declared by angels proved to be reliable, and every transgression or disobedience received a just retribution, 3 how shall we escape if we neglect such a great salvation? It was declared at first by the Lord, and it was attested to us by those who heard, 4 while God also bore witness by signs and wonders and various miracles and by gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his will.
5 For it was not to angels that God subjected the world to come, of which we are speaking. 6 It has been testified somewhere,
“What is man, that you are mindful of him,
or the son of man, that you care for him?
7
You made him for a little while lower than the angels;
you have crowned him with glory and honor,

putting everything in subjection under his feet.”
Now in putting everything in subjection to him, he left nothing outside his control. At present, we do not yet see everything in subjection to him. 9 But we see him who for a little while was made lower than the angels, namely Jesus, crowned with glory and honor because of the suffering of death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone.
10 For it was fitting that he, for whom and by whom all things exist, in bringing many sons to glory, should make the founder of their salvation perfect through suffering. 11 For he who sanctifies and those who are sanctified all have one source. 2 2:11 Greek all are of one That is why he is not ashamed to call them brothers, 3 2:11 Or brothers and sisters. In New Testament usage, depending on the context, the plural Greek word adelphoi (translated brothers) may refer either to brothers or to brothers and sisters; also verse 12 12 saying,
“I will tell of your name to my brothers;
in the midst of the congregation I will sing your praise.”
13 And again,
“I will put my trust in him.”
And again,
“Behold, I and the children God has given me.”
14 Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of the same things, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil, 15 and deliver all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery. 16 For surely it is not angels that he helps, but he helps the offspring of Abraham. 17 Therefore he had to be made like his brothers in every respect, so that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in the service of God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. 18 For because he himself has suffered when tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.
I had an identity problem for most of my life. I did not know who I was, or whose I was. After being abused at a young age, I felt worthless and unlovable. This left me looking for love and never finding it, but I did find drugs and alcohol to numb the pain. This led to a life of constant rebellion, running from the only One who would ever love me completely. Many years of running, bad relationships, and constant numbness made me so sick of myself that I gave up.
I had tried many times to get clean on my own, but it never worked. I had not been able to escape depression and fear. But as I began listening to Christian music stations and reading the Bible, a passage struck me: "One who was there had been an invalid for thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him lying there and learned that he had been in this condition for a long time, he asked him, 'Do you want to get well?' . . . Then Jesus said to him, 'Get up! Pick up your mat and walk.'" (John 5:5-8, NIV 1984)
I had to pick up my mat and walk! Less than a week later, I was in a Christian rehab center. That was in April 2006, and I have never looked back. I discovered that I was a daughter of the Mighty King! I was chosen, I was cherished, and I was loved. Then I found Watermark through its Bible-based recovery ministry now known as re:generation and have been blessed with knowing my Abba Father in a personal way ever since.
God has said that we are all of the same family if we believe on His Son. We are heirs with Jesus! Now I know who I am and whose I am. I am worth it, and so are you!
1. Do you know who you are and whose you are?
2. If not, are you ready to meet your Heavenly Daddy?
3. If you do know Him personally, are you showing others the good news that we all have an Abba Father who loves us so much that He sent His only Son to die for our sins so that we could be in relationship with Him forever? If not, what are you waiting for?
