Central Truth

Praise God for His fairness and holiness. Because He is perfectly just and fair, we can trust Him completely.

Key Verse | Psalm 99:4

The King in his might loves justice.
You have established equity;
you have executed justice
and righteousness in Jacob.
(Psalm 99:4)

Psalm 99

The LORD Our God Is Holy

The LORD reigns; let the peoples tremble!
    He sits enthroned upon the cherubim; let the earth quake!
The LORD is great in Zion;
    he is exalted over all the peoples.
Let them praise your great and awesome name!
    Holy is he!
The King in his might loves justice. 1 99:4 Or The might of the King loves justice
    You have established equity;
you have executed justice
    and righteousness in Jacob.
Exalt the LORD our God;
    worship at his footstool!
    Holy is he!

Moses and Aaron were among his priests,
    Samuel also was among those who called upon his name.
    They called to the LORD, and he answered them.
In the pillar of the cloud he spoke to them;
    they kept his testimonies
    and the statute that he gave them.

O LORD our God, you answered them;
    you were a forgiving God to them,
    but an avenger of their wrongdoings.
Exalt the LORD our God,
    and worship at his holy mountain;
    for the LORD our God is holy!

Dive Deeper | Psalm 99

I have a thing about justice. I am the oldest of four children and there were plenty of unjust and unfair moments growing up. Prayer and repentance led me to a place of forgiveness. Forgiveness is an act of obedience that leads to healing and peace of mind.

Now, as an adult, I spend a great deal of time fighting for justice in legislation and our public schools. There is a trend in public education to establish a system of equity. It is an impossible task to make everything fair and equitable in parenting and in education. God gives us all different gifts, talents, and circumstances. What we do with those is up to us (1 Corinthians 12:4-6).

In Psalm 99, we see that justice is for God to handle because He is mighty and exalted over all the nations. In our quest for control, we are tempted to rely on our own strength and abilities. We must recognize that He will judge the world in righteousness and equity. God’s holiness gives us comfort because He lifts us out of the mire of sin, and, as we believe in Him, we are made holy. It gives me great comfort to know that God will reconcile everything in the end. All the injustice in the world will be put to rest, for the Lord our God is holy!
