Central Truth
There are joy and excitement that come from knowing the one true God. Our praise can be loud and joyous because we know this truth.
I will extol you, My God and King,
and bless your name forever and ever.

Praise the LORD!
When was the last time you were excited? Like so excited you could burst. I remember around this time last year I was watching the first season of the Chosen, and I was on the last episode where Jesus tells the woman at the well that He is the Messiah: the one everyone has been waiting for. I remember watching the disciples' excitement in knowing that they could finally say something. They could finally tell people who Jesus really is!
That excitement overwhelmed me. It brought me to tears and put the biggest smile on my face. I wanted to dance around my living room and jump in excitement because I knew, too! I knew Jesus had come, and I knew He was the Messiah! Praise God we can know this too.
I think David had that same excitement, except he hadn't met Jesus yet. He only knew the assurance of His coming, but he was excited to tell others about his God and who it was he praised every day. Psalm 145:1 says, "I will extol you, my God and King . . . ." The word extol in our dictionary means to praise enthusiastically.
Now I know—man, do I know—that it is not always easy to praise God with enthusiasm. There are days when we struggle to even get out of bed, let alone praise God enthusiastically. I don't think David is telling us we have to fake it 'til we make it. Instead, he is sharing that praising God can be exciting. It can be something that excites us, and on days when it feels like there are only gray clouds in the sky, we can praise God and see some light break through the clouds.
Friends, we know Jesus has come. We know the goodness of God, and we know where good life is found. I am not sure where you all are in your own journey, but my hope and prayer is that you know the joy and excitement that come from knowing and praising the one true God.
