Central Truth

No matter what you have done, you can be saved. But you can't save yourself.

Key Verse | Luke 19:10

"For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost."

Luke 19:10

10 For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”

Dive Deeper | Luke 19:10

Luke is a summary of the life of Jesus. It starts with the angel appearing to Mary and telling her she is going to have a son. Soon after, Jesus the Son is born and grows up. Luke then covers Jesus' teachings, works of healing the sick, and power to drive out demons. Toward the end of the book, Jesus dies to pay for all of our sins. And finally, on the third day, He rises from the dead.

It's amazing that while we aren't worthy, He still loves us enough to pay the punishment we deserve. Just like the woman in Luke 7:36-50, I am a sinful human being. It is hard to believe that God has forgiven my sins. I thought I had done too many bad things to be forgiven. But Jesus shows us in the story of the sinful woman that anyone can be saved and redeemed.

Thankfully, through time with God, my leaders, and my sister and her husband, I have realized that God has forgiven me. God welcomes me with open arms, as well as anyone else who is weak and needing a Savior (Matthew 11:28). The Lord has come to help the weak, not the healthy (Luke 5:31-32). So you can be forgiven and follow Jesus. He will gladly carry the weight of your burdens. Rejoice in that!
